Among the beachfront hotels, this friendly and casual environment
is probably the most comfortable for families: A shaded restaurant
deck over the beach provides the easiest place on the three-mile
beach to get a drink to take to water's edge. Two-story buildings
with arched breezeways are set in a lush tropical garden and
provide a refined version of the familiar motel room layout.

Blackwell after hurricane Andrew, this exclusive, stylish spot
attracts a hip crowd of media types and new money. There'll
likely be an international fashion shoot going on while you're
there. A bougainvillea -draped gate provides an enticing sense
of entry into a stunning open-air club room with private cabañas
hidden in the tropical garden beyond. This is the highest priced
resort on the island with garden rooms above $600 in season
and beachfront cabañas to $2,000 a night. |
