Bay Street rebuilds for 2002 season:
New hotel, repaving, seawall, fishermens dock,
and even a souse house
(November
13, 2002) Bay Street buzzes as the town prepares to greet winter's
visitors. The street itself is being repaved, widened and protected
by a new seawall. Work has commenced on removing the fishermens
dock to replace it with a new one, and Loretta has upgraded her
hair braiding parlor to a souse house at which Stanley Johnson is
seen sampling the wares.

And overlooking it all, the Rock House is being completely refurbished
at a scale and pace perhaps not seen here before. Presided over
by longtime Brilander and international hotelier Wallace Tutt, the
historic building previously used as both hotel and private residence
is being expanded and upgraded to a top drawer botique hotel with
pool, two dining areas, and nine rooms with high speed internet
access. If it comes anywhere near its scheduled opening target of
Thanksgiving, it will certainly have set a record for completion
of major construction within four months of purchase.

Above Wallace Tutt (in red) directs construction. Below is the
new pool and cabanas and the newly raised front courtyard which
will permit outdoor dining with a view of the bay.
