Runaway bash celebrates 20 years

(February 17, 2002) Runaway Hill Club owners Carol and Roger Becht celebrated 20 years of running Runaway Hill Club hotel on Harbour Island by throwing a bash for the club's staff and friends—and that turned out to be almost everyone on-island, as over 300 people turned out. Carol and Roger are pictured above in front of a "Collosal Gram" received via Fed Ex that thanked them for "20 years of pure bliss with wishes for 20 more" from "first-timers" Hugh and Linda.

Under brilliant stars and a sliver of moon, members of each of Briland's beloved bands reunited as the Native Sons and opened the evening with the classic "Yellow Bird" which they had played there innumerable times over the years.

Carol and Roger say they've lived through just about everything that happens in the famous novel "Don't Stop the Carnival" plus major rebuilding after hurricane Agnes. But they're still so devoted to their guests that Roger can't help himself from tending bar even at his own party.
